Honestly, you’d be hard pressed to find an engagement session from New Mexico that wasn’t outrageously beautiful. From the mountains or the desert, to the white mesa or the Rio Grande River, New Mexico’s scenic views are easily one of the state’s crowning features.
But to highlight a couple’s love and excitement in a stunning setting without letting the landscape overshadow the couple — now that can be a tricky feat. Luckily, Kayla Kitts Photography is a total pro. {She is one of Albuquerque’s best wedding photographers, after all.} The engagement session she captured for Bryanna + Dustin, a gorgeous local couple, perfectly exalted the kind of love that swirls between them.
Tent Rocks, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is well known for its twists and turns, the stripes of minerals running through the rocks like waves, and corridors in the rock that make the setting feel larger-than-life. Bryanna + Dustin’s love story is a bit like that too: larger than life. Consuming, yet comforting, their devotion to one another is as clear and strong as the mountainous space they hiked through. Kayla herself even drew parallels between the couple and their setting; describing how it reflects their relationship, she says:
I realized I was witnessing a lot of similarities between our hike and their life. Him grabbing her hand often, supporting her when she needed it, and she encouraging him as well. Him calm and happy, her silly and kind. As the hike would get harder, they would pull together and worked as a team – and there, surrounded by beauty all around, my heart overflowed with excitement of all that was to come for these two.
{We’re not crying, you’re crying.}
Kayla, photography + love expert, is known for showcasing each couple’s story and personality through her lens. But with this couple in particular, you can draw in the love even more than usual because they’re all great friends. They first connected after Kayla shot family portraits for their little tribe, and have been bonding ever since with their kiddos and mama’s-night-outs. Capturing candid moments between the couple, Kayla Kitts Photography truly enlivened their relationship, and it shows.
We’re so grateful to Kayla for sharing this inspiring engagement shoot with us, so we can turn and share it with all of you. May it remind you of just how powerful and familiar love it, just like the mountains and mesas that punctuate our state.
