Ah yes, the time-honored tradition of engagement photos… Well, maybe not necessarily time-honored — this part of the wedding planning process actually gained popularity relatively recently in the history of weddings. It initially came about so couples could include a photo with their announcement in the local paper. Though somewhat new, it is one of the more lovely wedding conventions, and one of the easier ones to honor!
Some couples choose to forgo this step in the planning process, seeing it as just another box to tick off on a long list of wedding tasks. We totally respect that! Though we might not recommend it ourselves, what with the long list of benefits that come with engagement photos. {Incredible, adorable, long-lasting memories for one, the perfect inclusion for your save-the-dates for two, engagement announcements in the Perfect Wedding Guide magazine for three, and the chance to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding, for four. Just to name a few!}
If you are planning on getting engagement photos done though, there then comes a series of questions you must ask yourself after making that decision. Who will be your photographer? What will you wear, are you going to coordinate outfits? What vibe are you going for? And of course, most importantly, where will you take them?!
We’re lucky to have a wealth of scenic landscapes, traditional adobe, regal mountains and mesas, and modern cityscapes to choose from here in New Mexico. But that also means the possibilities are endless, which can be overwhelming! We put a few of our favorite urban engagement photos together, alongside our favorite natural engagements to help you decide.
Does the crisp architecture and rugged glam vibe match the dedicated and nuanced love between you and your partner? Or does the delicate greenery of the Bosque run parallel to your underlying friendship and supportive devotion? Only you can decide, but these should help!
