“We decided to have a small wedding with close friends and family at a Dude Ranch in northern Colorado. We made a weekend out of it and everyone got to stay in cabins and ride horses. Keeping it small meant we got to actually spend time with everyone.” – Sarah + Forrest
A Venue Close to the Heart
Drowsy Water Ranch holds a special place in Sarah’s heart. Having worked on ranches for years, Sarah developed a deep connection with the ranch lifestyle and her love for horses. Forrest, a tree service business owner, shares her appreciations for the outdoors. The ranch’s cozy cabins, stunning views of the Continental Divide, and plethora of outdoor activities created the perfect setting for their celebration.
Over the course of the weekend, their closest friends and family enjoyed horseback riding, zip-lining, and exploring the surrounding landscape. Delicious meals and laughter brought everyone together, setting the tone for a warm, heartfelt wedding day.
Riding into Forever
The wedding ceremony itself was nothing short of magical. Guests were seated beneath golden Aspen trees with the majestic mountains as a backdrop. A solo violinist played the most beautiful songs, adding a touch of nostalgia and romance to the moment.
The couple made a grand entrance, riding a pair of Standardbred Percherons to their ceremony site. Dressed in boots and cowboy hates, Sarah and Forrest exchanged vows in a scene that felt like it came straight out of a western fairytale!
“Our favorite part of the wedding was riding horses to the ceremony site. Our guests were sitting with Mint Julips overlooking the Continental Divide. A solo violinist played Elvis Presley songs under the Aspens that had just turned gold a few days before. We “walked down the aisle” and said “I do” in boots and cowboy hats.” – Sarah + Forrest
Rustic Charm Meets Adventure
After the ceremony, the celebration moved to the ranch’s iconic and picturesque red barn. Wooden beams and rustic decor created a warm and inviting atmosphere for the reception. Guests danced the night away, shared stories. and reveled in the joy of the couple’s union.
